Ricepaper Magazine is a Vancouver-based Canadian magazine which has showcased Asian Canadian literature, culture, and the arts since 1994. As Ricepaper's first published anthology in 2017 after the magazine transitioned from physical quarterly magazine to a digital formate, it features 25 selections that capture the spectrum of contemporary Asian Canadian writing through fresh and exciting voices, and reflects the nuances of Canada at 150. In addition to asking questions about who Asian Canadians are, we also look to the future of limitless possibilities and diverse new voices from the Pacific Rim and beyond.
The book was released as part of 2017's LiterASIANfestival — which saw the arrival of distinguished writers like Jen Sookfong Lee, Terry Watada and the announcement of the Jim Wong-Chu Emerging Writers Award — Currents was part of a celebration that highlighted the fact that minority writers have their stories to tell.
